Transom stained glass for privacy and light.

Hi all you art and décor lovers in Minneapolis; transom stained glass has been on our minds lately since we installed some of our gorgeous custom-designed windows in a resident’s home. This client had a beautiful living room with high ceilings, large double hung windows all along two walls, a phenomenal view, and a row of transom windows above the double hung windows. The overall effect of all those windows was light and airy. In fact, the purpose of transom windows is to let in more light.

But here was our client’s problem: the room was well decorated, lovely, graceful, and interesting. But that interest seemed to stop at eye level, and the walls of the room went on much higher. The room appeared only half finished. For this client in Minneapolis, transom stained glass gave her exactly what she was looking for. Beauty. Interest. Uniqueness. Something that tied together her entire antique furniture filled room. (Of course, we did antique style stained glass to match her furnishings. What else?)

There was another problem with this client’s living room as well. At certain hours in the late afternoon and early evening, the sun was simply too strong. Although she appreciated the light from all the windows, she wished she could take it down just a notch. Which again, was a problem that we were able to solve with our custom stained glass transom windows!

If you live in Minneapolis, transom stained glass might be a new idea. Although many homes do include transom windows, particularly over the front door, most people simply don’t think to do anything with them. They don’t take full advantages of the design and style possibilities these windows could add.
