Custom transom stained glass designs.

Why are transom windows such a fantastic place to add stained glass? In Minneapolis, transom stained glass is the best way to take these interesting architectural windows and really show them off to add style to a room.

Before we go further, perhaps we’d better explain what transom windows are for those of you who are unfamiliar with the term. Transoms refer to those smaller windows that sit on top of the normal sized ones. Sometimes they are even up near the ceiling. One place you are probably familiar with transom windows is over a front door. They are frequently either half-moon shaped or narrow horizontal rectangles.

And what, you may be wondering, is the purpose of a transom window? They let in a lot more light and interest to a room. But usually, no one does anything interesting with them. For residents of Minneapolis, transom stained glass is perfect because it will still let in the light but it will add interest and uniqueness, not to mention beauty and art, to any room. Any room that has transoms, that is.

For your home or office space in Minneapolis, transom stained glass can be absolutely any style you choose. While many of our clients choose to have it built with clear, frosted, or beveled glass, it can also be done in vivid colors. While many of our clients choose to have traditional antique designs, your transoms can be as modern as you like.

As simple or complex as you like. And again, in any style you like from ancient Celtic Knots to modern geometrics or even flowers.

If you want to let as much light as possible through your transom windows, we might recommend doing them in clear glass, perhaps in the Mission Style. This was a style associated with famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright, and it consisted of mostly clear glass with some color. The colors you choose can either match with or contrast with your existing décor.
